James Luk 讲师的个人介绍
Hello, my name is James Luk. Nice to meet you all! I'm born and raised in America. I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a degree in Language Studies. Currently I'm working as a substitute teacher mainly in different elementary schools, as well as bilingual immersion schools for students who are learning both English and another language at the same time.
I'm currently pursuing more opportunities to meet others and helping them learn things that they are passionate about. My main goal is to teach English to those who wish to learn, but I'm also open to help with other fields such as basic math, language studies, science, and translation.
My goal in wanting to teach English stemmed from meeting many of my own language tutors while in school. They were all passionate about wanting to help others learn their native language and give the language learner the power to express themselves in a natural and detailed manner made me want to do that too. This grew on me and became the goal that I wanted to strive for as well. So I had changed career paths and focused more on how to become a better language teacher while in school, sought out experiences where I would be able to interact with people who are learning English as a second language, and found myself in a position where I can do this on a regular basis.
My hobbies right now are playing computer games with friends, reading, and studying different things that interest me. My main interest is language studies, so learning about different languages and being able to compare the differences and nuances between them are what I like to think about when I have some free time.
In the future, I hope we'll be able to work together and learn more about the subjects we're all interested in!
