Hi, I’m Kiyo!
I live in Nara, Japan.
From “I understand Japanese” to “I can actually speak Japanese.”
I worked for Japanese companies for over 30 years, including 18 years as an executive, and I now teach Japanese online.
I have completed a 420-hour Japanese language teacher training course, passed the Japanese Language Teacher Examination, and am a registered Japanese language teacher in Japan.
My lessons are great for you if you:
- understand Japanese but have trouble finding the words when speaking
- want to speak Japanese more naturally and confidently
- are preparing for the JLPT
- want to learn Japanese used in the workplace, including polite language and keigo
- want to practice practical Japanese for travel and everyday life
For beginners
I use illustrations and slides to make Japanese easy to understand. When necessary, I can also support you in English.
For intermediate and advanced learners
We’ll spend plenty of time speaking Japanese while working on more natural expressions, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
Business Japanese
With over 30 years of experience working in Japanese companies, including 18 years as an executive, I can help you understand polite Japanese, workplace communication, keigo, and Japanese business manners.
I also offer lessons for JLPT preparation, travel Japanese, and everyday conversation.
I’m learning English myself, so I know what it feels like to understand a language but still struggle to find the right words when speaking.
Don’t worry about making mistakes. My lessons are a place where you can relax, speak a lot, and build your confidence step by step.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, running, skiing, learning languages, watching movies and TV shows, and listening to music.
