Hello! My name is Samuel and I’m from England. I was born in the south of England, in a county called Sussex. You may know the city of Brighton? I grew up near there.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy film and TV, books, video games, comics and manga, music, current affairs and politics, as well as British culture and everyday life. I'm always interested in hearing about other people's interests too, so there's usually plenty to talk about!
Experience & Teaching Style
I like to teach in a relaxed, friendly and professional atmosphere. I give you plenty of space to speak at your own pace, while listening carefully for areas where you can improve. I will then provide useful, constructive feedback to help you continue developing your English.
My Lessons
I offer a range of lessons to suit different goals and learning styles, from relaxed conversation and focused skills-building to film discussion and structured textbook study, depending on your goals and the way you prefer to learn.
Conversation Lessons (Coffee Break)

Conversation lessons are relaxed and flexible, giving you the opportunity to practise speaking naturally while receiving guidance and feedback.
We can talk about a wide range of topics, including:
Skills-Building Lessons

I also offer a range of lessons designed to build the fundamental skills you need to communicate confidently in English, while keeping things interesting and fun.
Surprise Question Challenge
No preparation and no idea what I'm going to ask! I'll give you a series of unexpected questions and challenge you to think, respond and express your ideas in English.
A great way to practise spontaneous speaking, vocabulary, flexibility and communication skills.
Surprise Topic Challenge
I'll give you a topic that you haven't prepared for and challenge you to discuss it in English.
This lesson helps you organise your thoughts, find the right words and keep a conversation going, even when you're talking about something unfamiliar.
Picture Description Challenge
I'll show you a picture and ask you to describe what you can see, what you think is happening and what might happen next.
A useful way to develop vocabulary, sentence construction, observation skills and speaking fluency.
Article Discussion Challenge
A structured lesson using an article as the starting point for English practice. We’ll practise reading aloud, pronunciation, listening, vocabulary and comprehension before discussing the article’s topic.
A great way to build confidence using English while expressing your own ideas and opinions about real-world topics.
These lessons are ideal for students who want to strengthen their speaking skills, become more flexible when communicating, or simply try something a little different.
Please check the individual lesson descriptions for more details.
Sunday Screening

I studied Film at university, and during my many years of teaching English I discovered that students often really enjoy talking about films.
My Sunday Screening lessons use films as a starting point for English practice and discussion. Talking about films can be surprisingly challenging, so these lessons help you express your opinions, discuss ideas and develop your English naturally.
Discussing films is a great way to:
Please check the Sunday Screening lesson information for more details.
Textbook Lessons

If you prefer a more structured approach, I also offer textbook-based lessons. These are suitable for students who would like to work systematically on grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening and speaking.
We can work with a textbook that matches your level, and work through it together at a comfortable pace.
Please check the textbook lesson information for further details.
Meet Your Instructor

If you are a new student, I ask that you start with my 10-minute Meet Your Instructor session.
This is a short, relaxed introduction where we can get to know each other, discuss your English-learning goals and decide which type of lesson would suit you best.
You can also complete a short questionnaire beforehand if you would like to tell me a little more about your goals and interests.
I think finding the right teacher is important, so this gives both of us a chance to see if we are a good fit before beginning regular lessons.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to meeting you!
Samuel
