Hello!
My name is Jade and I am and English teacher from the UK. I am a fan of many things such as playing the Elderscrolls online and other games, watching sci-fi/ fiction shows and I like to study things - I always have a curious mind. I have been studying Japanese for 6 years and can speak and understand things to JLPT N3 level so please rest assured that speaking a little Japanese in my classes when you are stuck is welcome.
I have lived in Wakayama, Japan before for a year whilst attending Uniersity there. Whilst at University I learnt about Heian period literature and became besotted with it! So I also enjoy reading works of Japanese literature, especially from that period. I am also really into Japanese pre-modern history from the Heian period to just past the Edo period.
Another thing I'm really into is make-up! I love the stuff and hope to be doing some lessons on that sometime soon.
Teaching Experience
I have been teaching English for 3 years and have a variety of experience - I have taught classes, taught online, taught 1-1, and taught abroad in Japan. I am able to speak Japanese at a proficient level and have a degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with Japanese. I also have a Tinity Cert certificate for 120+ hours and a TKT: Young Learners certificate.
Teaching Style
I very much enjoy teaching but notice quite often that students are afraid of making mistakes, please do not be! making mistakes is an essential thing to do when learning a language as you can learn from it and further develop your English language skills.
I am a very passionate teacher and always aim to teach my students in a way that is best for them, I like to learn about students' passions, interests and goals and make material based on what you want to learn, for this I will offer a get to know you session where we can talk freely and discuss your learner needs as well as your goals.
As said before I am very passionate about Japanese literature so will be providing lessons that follow a reading and discussion format with on spot error correction. The reading materials will be provided and students of a higher English level will read chapters that will then be discussed in class. Homework will be included in the reading classes offered where students will have to read the selected chapters themselves. Tricky words and grammar will be discussed in class.
I will also offer a variety of other lessons to do with other reading materials, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, British Culture, British Folklore, British History, free discussions, creative writing and hopefully more!
