Hi there! My name is John and I've been an English and Music teacher for the past 10 years.

Are you looking for a friendly and patient teacher who will make learning fun?

Or would you like to combine your English studies with learning an instrument, such as the guitar?

If yes, then I can help! Learning a language or an instrument should be a fun and rewarding experience. I believe that doing extra-curricular activities in your second language is a fantastic way to learn.

But if you just want to learn English, we can do that too. ;)

My qualifications and experience:

I have a BA degree in English and Music (The National University of Ireland Maynooth) and a Master’s in Music (Queen’s University Belfast), specializing in composition. I also have a Performance Diploma in Classical Guitar (Trinity College London) and a TEFL certificate for teaching English as a foreign language (I-to-I). As well as this, I was awarded the C1 (advanced language certificate) in Spanish from The Instituto Cervantes .

I have had students of all ages from all over the world. I have taught English in a Spanish university, many different language academies and also on online platforms. I have taught music in an Irish highschool and in different music academies.

I have played in different music groups from an indie rock group, to a folk trio, to a large choral ensemble. I am a keen composer and write many different genres of music from cinematic and classical to electronic. I also play the piano, the drums, the bass and I sing.

I can also help with proofreading and translating.

My students come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and industries. Just to name a few of the professions, I have taught university professors, doctors, nurses, business owners, bankers, artists, school teachers, and writers.

Teaching Style:

Since every student learns in different ways, I employ personalised lessons to meet each student's needs based upon their English comprehension and proficiency levels. Classes may include worksheets, written and verbal exercises, real world situations, role playing, and simulating the environment (business, academic, presentations, etc).
