About me...
Hi,
my name is Philipp.
I'm a German teacher currently living in Warsaw, Poland.
I grew up in Konstanz, which is a historic town on the Swiss border. It is located at lake Constance ( called "Bodensee" in German) and is one of the country's most popular holiday destinations.
My familiy comes originally from Poland. Hence I grew up in a bilingual evironment. Additionally to German which is my native language, I also speak Polish fluently.
I'm a passionate language learner and I'm very interested in foreign cultures. I have a proficient command of the English language. Besides I studied Japanese on my own but also took language classes at university.
More recently I started learning Russian and French.
My big passion is art and I spend much time painting and drawing. At the moment I study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
I feel very comfortable in the teacher's role. Secondarily to German I also teach drawing and painting.
Teaching experience
My teaching background encompasses an experience of nearly a year and a half in German tutoring. My lessons are held mostly online but sometimes I also give stationary classes at the student's home.
I work mostly with polish students but occassionaly I also teach learners from different countries.
As a tutor I can pass down the experiences I gathered myself as a language learner. It's real fun for me to observe the progress of my students and to help them overcome any arising doubts or mental barriers. I'm especially fond of teaching German to younger students.
What my teaching style is about...
My lessons are accessible to learners of all levels - from beginner to experienced users of German. I work with children and adults.
I recommend taking an introduction lesson first so we might get to know each other, assess your current language skills and discuss your goals and learning needs.
My lessons are to a big extend customizable so i can respond to the needs of every student individually. Some learners who have a certain language goal in mind might require a set plan.
That's why an introduction lesson is often very helpful so we can dicuss the approach we are going to choose. I'm generally open to both alternatives.
When it comes to the learning aspect, I put strong emphasis on spoken German from the very beginning. I want my students to become familar with the sounds and rhythm of the language. I encourage speaking early on, so German doesn't appear to be something abstract existing only in textbooks. An important point is the colloquial language which should enable the student to confidently manage his way in a modern german-speaking evironment.
