English

Hello, I’m Brett — an English coach and teacher from Canada living in Kanagawa.

I support learners of all levels, especially beginners, returning learners, and adults who want calm, clear guidance. My lessons focus on real communication: asking questions, expressing ideas, understanding context, and feeling comfortable using English in daily life, travel, work, and cultural situations. I don’t teach textbook grammar. I teach practical English you can actually use.


My correction style


I correct based on context. If you’re trying to express an idea, I let you finish — I don’t interrupt your flow. Afterward, I give simple, clear feedback. If a mistake is repeated and we’ve already worked on it, I correct it immediately so you can build a strong habit. This approach helps you speak naturally without fear while still improving steadily.

 

My content outside Cafetalk


I write English‑learning and cultural articles on Note.com (austin_sensei / the_grimm). Some are practical, some are reflective, and some are part of my Context Quest series — exploring culture, communication, entertainment, and how people understand the world. I also create YouTube content across a few channels, including English support, cultural topics, and gaming. My work isn’t limited to “lessons”; it’s about helping people understand language and culture in a natural, human way.
