Nice to meet you — I'm Shizue! Born and raised in Osaka, a true Osaka local through and through
My goal for every lesson is
「To get you to a place where you can say what you want to say — in Japanese, on your own.」
This is not a test prep or JLPT course. This is a conversation-focused lesson designed to help you speak naturally with Japanese people.
[For beginners ]
"Japanese looks so hard… I don't even know where to start."
If that sounds like you — perfect, you're in the right place! Even if you're still learning hiragana and katakana, that's completely fine. We'll start speaking practice right from the beginning, with full English support along the way. Let's aim for you to be able to hold simple everyday conversations in Japanese after 3 months!
[For intermediate learners ]
- The intermediate wall is real — and in most cases, it's not about how much you've studied. It's about habits you can't see yourself, and not enough real speaking practice.
- In my lessons, I naturally pick up on your patterns and weak points through conversation, and we tackle them right then and there. With plenty of improvisational role-play and rephrasing practice, we'll build that feeling of words coming out before you even think about them.
- No need to aim for perfect, difficult vocabulary. We'll work on saying things in simpler, more natural ways — and learn the nuances of Japanese that simply can't be translated directly from English.
- In a relaxed atmosphere where you feel free to speak without holding back, I'll help you build on your strengths and enjoy longer, more natural conversations!
I'll support you with everything I've got. First — picture the version of yourself you want to become. Then tell me. Let's work toward that together!
※ If you have a specific goal in mind — Osaka dialect, anime, travel Japanese — I have dedicated lessons for those too. Check out the lesson list below!
English support is available and adjusted flexibly based on what you need, so even if an all-Japanese lesson feels daunting, you're in safe hands
Background & Experience
- I spent many years in customer service — restaurants and apparel retail, mainly as a manager at a sports casual brand inside a department store. Warm, friendly, and attentive communication was always my priority.
- I brought those skills online, and over the past 3 years I've completed over 2,000 lessons, mainly with English speakers. Many of my students come back regularly, and several who started from absolute zero are now at an intermediate to upper-intermediate level.
- I also earned a childcare qualification through self-study and worked at a nursery school. Explaining everyday things in simple words to children who couldn't yet speak properly gave me a real skill for rephrasing difficult expressions into easy, natural Japanese. "I want to say this — but is there a simpler way?" I've got you covered!
A little about me
I'm friendly and chatty— very Osaka! I love traveling, hot springs, and eating my way through new places. But on the flip side, I also have days where I get completely absorbed in manga, anime, or dramas and don't leave the house at all.
I'm also genuinely curious about other cultures and foods — I've actually just started learning Chinese too, so I know exactly what it feels like to be a beginner student! I always have so much I want to talk about and hear from you.
I love Disneyland (especially DisneySea) and USJ! ↓ This is the view of Osaka from Abeno Harukas — the tallest building in western Japan.

My Approach & Teaching Style
- I believe language is a tool for communication — not for getting things "correct." What matters is saying what you mean in a way that connects with another person.
- As an English learner myself, I truly understand how hard it is to express yourself in a language that isn't your own. But that moment when you feel understood? It's genuinely exciting. I want you to collect those moments — they become your motivation.
- I always aim for a relaxed atmosphere where you still feel real progress every single lesson. English support is adjusted flexibly so you get as much Japanese speaking practice as possible.
- During lessons, we build your personal document together in real time — nothing is sent afterward. We add to it as we go, so it's interactive and always right there in front of you
I collect super detailed miniature food figures

And I'm a huge anime and manga fan — I saw the Demon Slayer movie three times in cinemas, and I own the complete collections of NARUTO, Hunter × Hunter, and Attack on Titan. Oh, and figures too. Do you have a favorite anime? I'd love to know!

Let's talk about all kinds of things — in Japanese! Whether it's travel, work, or everyday life.
"To be able to say what you want to say — in Japanese."
That's what we're working toward, together. I truly can't wait to meet you!
