Many children of Iranian families understand Persian but cannot read a single line of it. Many adults want to read Hafez or Rumi in the original, or follow Persian news. I help both. I have spent thirty years working with Persian as a writer, editor and journalist, including eight years writing for BBC Persian, and I have written Persian books for children. My lessons are calm, clear and built around what you want.
I am a native Persian speaker from Iran, living in London. I hold an MA in Persian Literature from the University of Tehran and a BA in Persian Literature. For ten years I was a volume editor and senior editor at the Encyclopedia for Children and Young Adults in Tehran. I have given private lessons in Persian literature and grammar, and I ran writing workshops. I am patient, and I speak slowly and clearly.
Every lesson starts from your goal. Beginners learn the alphabet, reading, writing and everyday conversation. Intermediate and advanced learners practise natural conversation, grammar and real texts such as news and short stories. I also teach poetry (Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam, Forough Farrokhzad), and story-based lessons for children. After each lesson you get a short note with new words and something to practise.
I use my camera in lessons. You can choose to turn your camera on or off.
