My name is Stephanie, and I'm a Canadian who speaks English, French, and Japanese fluently. I'm also learning Mandarin, Korean, and Spanish! I love experiencing new things and meeting new people. I'm passionate about history and traditional cultures, and my hobbies include cooking, writing, travelling, hiking, and more! Previously, I lived in Japan for seven years, where I worked as a teacher and also served as an interpreter and translator for the Japanese government.★★★I reached the top ranking in all categories in my first month on Cafetalk!★★★
I have 4 years of experience in English teaching in Japan, both in the public and private sectors. I have also privately tutored English and French for many years, with a focus on East Asian learners, as my knowledge of Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean provides valuable insight into their language-acquisition skills and primary roadblocks.
Learning languages should be fun, so I like to use humour in my lessons. I also believe it's essential for learners to receive classes tailored to their individual needs and interests. My mission is to help my students achieve their goals while developing lifelong learning habits. My motto is "perfection is the enemy of progress," so don't be afraid to make mistakes; they'll cement your learning and make for great stories later!
