Hello! My name is Summer and I'm from Boulder, Colorado. After studying International Affairs in University, I took an English teacher training course (CELTA) in Bulgaria in 2012. I have been teaching English and studying language learners in various countries ever since. In 2018, I completed a masters program in second language learning and teaching. I'm friendly, patient and love teaching.
If you're new to English, if you want to brush up on your English, or if you just want someone to talk to, let's chat!
Background:
I grew up moving back and fourth between Tokyo and Colorado, which is why I am fluent in both English and Japanese. From 2013-2015 I lived and worked in Japan, teaching English to Japanese students. It was such an fun experience teaching to Japanese students, explaining English grammar in both English and Japanese. So fun, that I've come back Japan and have started teaching here again.
Teaching Style:
I am very patient, and like to have fun when teaching. The more fun we have, the easier it is for you to learn. But, I am also very serious about teaching, and will do my best to help you improve your English. One of my favorite things to teach is pronunciation. I think it's really important, and it can be fun to learn to make new sounds!
What are your favorite ways to learn? I'd love to hear the different learning methods you are interested in!
Interests:
Food... I love eating, cooking, baking talking about food, learning new recipes and traditional recipes. I also love music, I grew up playing violin, I play koto, a little guitar. String instruments are my favorite. Hiking, camping, traveling, biking, meeting new people and discovering new places are also all things that I enjoy.
Do you have any special recipes you'd like to share with me??
Please sign up for a class and we can discuss topics ranging from fishing to cooking to politics.
