Hello! My name is Amanda but please call me Mandy マンデイ. I live in Brisbane, Australia. ブリスベンに住んでいます。We have beautiful weather all year round and wonderful beaches at the Gold Coast and Noosa.
Teaching Experience:
I am a qualified and registered Primary School teacher and I specialise in teaching English as an additional language (TESOL) as well as working with children with special needs. I have formal qualifications from university for my primary school teaching role as well as TESOL qualifications. A few years ago I also undertook the CELTA course. This course was a great experience!
Students can expect a warm, uplifting and encouraging atmosphere when you take my lessons. My primary goal in my lessons is to help students improve their English. As a result, I employ different techniques for each student but always in a positive and comfortable atmosphere conducive to learning. I believe my easy-going and friendly approach will allow students to take risks and have enjoyable conversations.
Before I started teaching English, I worked as an accountant in the government. You would be surprised to know how proficiency in the English language will help you in every area of learning like mathematics and science.
My interests and hobbies:
I love travelling and camping. I have been to Japan many times - mainly skiing. A few years ago my husband and I did the Kumano Kodo trek. It was one of the best holidays I have experienced.
We have done a driving holiday in Kyushu. Our family has been to Nozawa Onsen many times but this year we might go to Furano - fingers crossed!
I have 3 children and we enjoy going out to dinner together. Every morning I walk my dog - his name is Sundance!
I have been learning Japanese over the last couple of years and can understand the challenges learners of a new language can come across! However the more your practice, the better you will get! Keep on going! 毎日日本語を勉強しています。
Every week I do language exchange with my friends in Japan. We practice their English-speaking skills and I practise my Japanese. We have so much fun and enjoy laughing together.
