Hello! I'm Joanna Berezny-Kakizaki, and I'm from the USA but I have lived in Japan. I lived in Utsunomiya, Tochigi, for 2 years, and Sapporo, Hokkaido, for 4 years. I taught English for the 6 years while I lived in Japan at Eikaiwa's and in private lessons. I have taught children ages 2 to 18 and adults, both in the classroom and online, in groups and one-on-one. I also have experience teaching EIKEN test prep for all levels 5 to 1. I am TEFL certified and I also hold my MA in Children's Literature, and a BA in Theatre and Creative Writing. (While I do teach mainly ESL, I would also like to provide lessons in theatre, like costuming, writing, and directing.)
I love teaching, and that's why I decided to continue teaching though I've returned to the USA. I teach all levels from beginner to advanced, and you have the option of choosing a set course or a customized course. All courses will be conversation-based with a focus on a certain grammar rule or topic. I speak only English during my lessons.
I am a kind and friendly teacher. I like to make my lessons fun and relaxed. But that doesn't mean I won't correct your grammar or pronunciation. I am strict when I need to be!
