Welcome!
I’m a professional writer and university instructor with over a decade of experience working with students of all ages, both in the U.S. and abroad.
I hold an MA in English Literature from Stanford University, and my freelance journalism has been published in major outlets worldwide.
A native New Yorker, I've also lived in China and France and traveled widely throughout Europe and Asia. I enjoy photography, detective novels, and discovering new vegetarian foods!
On Cafetalk, I primarily teach writing classes, but I also offer literature and conversation lessons.
My Teaching Approach:
Writing feels hard for everyone (even professional writers!). I help students break the process into manageable steps and approach writing logically. I introduce the basic structure of academic writing as a clear, flexible framework that can be adapted to any context and instruct students on grammar, organization, research, and the development of ideas at every stage.
In literature classes, I emphasize comprehension and analysis, while in guided conversation, I focus on building fluency, using a similarly structured, supportive method for both.
Whether you’re preparing for a proficiency exam, writing a class essay, or simply improving your skills, every lesson is tailored to your goals!
What I Offer:
Writing & Essay Coaching – from brainstorming to final drafts
Grammar & Organization Support – to build accuracy and clarity in writing
Exam Preparation – SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, GCSE, and more
Literature Tutoring & Reading Analysis – learn to read critically and discuss texts in depth
Conversation Practice – build fluency through guided discussions (topics can include daily life, popular culture, literature, professional communication, etc..,)
Who My Lessons Are For:
Students preparing for essays, research papers, or proficiency exams
Adult learners & professionals who want to polish their writing for work, study, or personal growth
Readers & literature enthusiasts who want to dive deeper into books and ideas
