My name is Jenny and I'm a CELTA-qualified English teacher from London. I have a passion for languages, travel and helping people gain the confidence to communicate in English.
One of the reasons I love teaching English is because I have spent much of my own life learning foreign languages. I have studied Italian, French and German, and more recently Japanese. I have experienced the excitement, frustration and occasional embarrassment that comes with learning another language, so I understand first-hand the challenges my students face. I know what it's like to search for the right word, worry about making mistakes and build confidence little by little through practice.
My love of languages has taken me around the world. I lived in Italy for a period of time and have travelled extensively, including three trips to Japan, a country and culture that I greatly admire. These experiences have given me a genuine appreciation of different cultures and communication styles, which I bring into my lessons.
I gained my CELTA qualification through International House London in 2017 and have been teaching English for the past nine years. During that time I have taught both adults and children, online and in person, helping students improve their conversational English, prepare for travel, develop professional communication skills and gain confidence speaking with native speakers.
Alongside teaching, I have spent more than twenty years working in international marketing and communications. This means I can also help professionals who want to improve their business English, presentation skills, interview techniques and workplace communication.
My teaching style is friendly, supportive and highly personalised. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable and engaged, so I tailor lessons around each individual's goals, interests and level. I use a variety of materials including textbooks, articles, videos, current affairs and real-life situations to ensure lessons remain relevant, practical and enjoyable.
I work primarily with adult learners and older teenagers, from intermediate to advanced levels, although I am happy to discuss individual requirements. I recommend that new students begin with a trial lesson so we can get to know each other, discuss your goals and create a learning plan that works for you.
Whether you want to improve your conversation skills, prepare for travel, communicate more confidently at work or simply enjoy speaking English with a native speaker, I would be delighted to help.
Learning a language is a journey, and you don't have to do it alone. Book a trial lesson and let's start building your confidence together.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
