Hi there, and welcome to my profile! I'm so glad you found your way here!
My name is Favour, a passionate, TEFL-certified English tutor hailing all the way from the vibrant and warm-hearted Nigeria, Africa — and I am so excited to be here on Cafetalk to connect with amazing young learners like yours!
With over 3 years of hands-on teaching experience, I have had the joy and privilege of working closely with elementary and junior high school students — and honestly, it is the most fulfilling thing I do. There is something truly magical about watching a child go from shy and hesitant to bold and expressive in English. That transformation never gets old, and it is what keeps me showing up every single day with energy and a full heart.
* A LITTLE ABOUT MY TEACHING JOURNEY *
My experience goes beyond just classroom instruction. I have actively partnered with English departments in the schools I have taught in, working hand-in-hand with teachers and educators to groom students in the art of conversation — helping them find their voice, speak with confidence, and express their thoughts clearly and beautifully in English.
I also run my own dedicated channel where I teach young children Number Sense and Phonics — two of the most foundational skills every child needs to build a strong academic future. Watching little ones decode words for the first time or grasp the logic of numbers is one of the greatest joys of my life!
I understand that learning is not just about grammar rules and vocabulary lists. It is about connection, courage, and consistency. That is the philosophy at the heart of every lesson I teach.
* WHAT I SPECIALIZE IN *
1. Pronunciation Training — I break down English sounds in a simple, easy-to-follow way so students can speak clearly and naturally without fear of being misunderstood. We make it fun, not intimidating!
2. Phonics — I guide early readers through the sounds and patterns of the English language, building a rock-solid reading foundation from the very start.
3. Number Sense — I help young learners understand numbers intuitively, not just mechanically. When children truly understand numbers, maths stops being scary and starts being exciting!
4. Exam Preparation — Whether it's school-based tests, standardized assessments, or competitive exams, I help students build the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to walk into any exam room feeling ready and strong.
5. Conversational English — This is truly my passion. I create a warm, judgment-free space where students feel comfortable speaking up, making mistakes, and growing from them. Real confidence comes from real practice!
6. Reading, Writing & Grammar — I simplify complex concepts into bite-sized, age-appropriate lessons that stick. No boring lectures — just engaging, interactive learning that students actually enjoy.
7. Listening Skills — Understanding spoken English is just as important as speaking it. I incorporate fun audio activities and real-life conversations to sharpen listening comprehension.
* MY TEACHING STYLE *
I am warm, patient, and deeply encouraging. I meet every student exactly where they are — no judgment, no pressure, just genuine support and a whole lot of cheerleading!
I tailor every lesson to the individual needs of each student because I strongly believe that no two learners are the same. What works beautifully for one child may not work for another, and I take the time to figure out the best approach for yours.
My lessons are lively, structured, and always age-appropriate. I use stories, games, role-play, and real-life scenarios to keep young learners engaged, because when children are having fun, they absorb so much more!
* A LITTLE FUN FACT ABOUT ME! *
When I'm not teaching, you'll likely find me on the volleyball court! I am a proud volleyball enthusiast, and the sport has shaped me in more ways than one. Volleyball has taught me the power of teamwork, the beauty of persistence, and the importance of bouncing back after a missed serve — values I carry straight into my classroom every day.
I always remind my students: just like in volleyball, you don't have to get it right the first time. You serve, you miss, you learn, and you serve again — and eventually, you ace it! That's exactly how language learning works too.
