Nice to Meet You! I'm Asami, a Japanese Teacher
I'm a native Japanese speaker from Tokyo, and I speak standard Japanese.
I have taught more than 200 hours of online Japanese lessons to learners from around the world.
The most important goal in my lessons is:
Turn Japanese you understand into Japanese you can actually use.
Instead of only memorizing grammar and vocabulary, I focus on actually using the Japanese you have learned.
“I studied grammar, but I can't find the words when I try to speak.”
“I can answer JLPT questions, but I can't use the grammar in conversation.”
“I want to try speaking Japanese by myself when I travel to Japan.”

My Lessons
I offer lessons for different goals and levels, from complete beginners to JLPT learners and people working in Japan.
Beginner & Basic Japanese
Using grammar from GENKI, we'll study grammar, vocabulary, and conversation in a balanced way. You'll also practice using the grammar you've learned to talk about yourself in Japanese.
JLPT N5・N4・N3
We won't just answer test questions. You'll create your own sentences using the grammar you've learned, answer questions, and practice using Japanese in conversation. My JLPT lessons combine JLPT preparation + speaking practice.
Conversation & Free Talk
In addition to casual free conversation, I also offer lessons using photos that I have personally taken in Japan to talk about everyday life and culture in Japan.
Japanese for Travel
Practice Japanese through role-plays based on real travel situations such as restaurants, hotels, stations and trains, shopping, and convenience stores.
Business Japanese
Drawing on my professional experience in systems and infrastructure-related work and as an area manager, we'll practice expressions that are actually used in Japanese workplaces, including reporting, consulting, making requests, confirming information, and handling problems.
My Teaching Style
It's OK to make mistakes!
Speak → Make mistakes → Get feedback → Try again
By repeating this cycle, you'll turn “Japanese you know” into “Japanese you can actually use.”
You don't need to speak perfect Japanese from the beginning.
The most important thing is to use the Japanese you already know and start speaking.
While we talk, I'll help you review grammar and vocabulary and introduce more natural ways to express what you want to say.
If you're a beginner, I can also support you in simple English when necessary, so don't worry if you can't understand everything in Japanese yet.
Lessons can be adjusted to your level, goals, and interests.
Depending on the lesson, you'll also receive personalized feedback after class:

About Me
My hobbies are hiking, yoga, and anime.
I love walking in nature and staying active.
I also enjoy talking about anime and Japanese culture, so if you have a favorite anime, I'd love to hear about it!
