Hello! I'm Yuka, a Japanese language teacher.
I live in a city called Nara, Japan, and I have been teaching English to Japanese learners for over 20 years.
What I enjoy most about teaching is getting to know each student—their life experiences, their perspectives, and what motivates them to learn. I especially love the moment when I discover the learning style that makes a student think, “Oh, this is fun!”
Over the years, I’ve enjoyed teaching Japanese lerners from all kinds of backgrounds: doctors, school teachers, science researchers, homemakers, and even a woman in her 70s who dreamed of studying at an American university. And she actually made her dream come true!
I took a break from Cafetalk for a while, and during that time, I completed a Japanese language teacher training program and obtained Japan's national qualification for Japanese language teachers.
Now, I would like to use my English-teaching experience to help people from around the world learn Japanese.
One of the things I love about Cafetalk is that teachers can design their own lessons. This allows me to create lessons that match each student's interests, background, and goals.
I would love to find the most enjoyable and effective way for you to learn Japanese because I believe that when you enjoy the way you learn, you can improve your language skills more quickly and effectively.
Since I started teaching languages, my teaching motto has been simple:
