Turkey is commemorating Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of Republic of Turkey, who passed away 77 years ago. Today commemoration ceremonies are taking place throughout Turkey and in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
Atatürk died at 9:05 on November 10, 1938 — and every year, all of Turkey observes a moment of silence at 9:05 on that day to honor the man regarded as the greatest Turk. Because of Atatürk we have an independent nation, under one flag, that has made great strides since the day it was established 92 years ago.
