Have you seen Everything, Everywhere All At Once?

Dec 10, 2022

Hello Cafetalk Community!

I hope you are doing well. In Canada, there's deep snow everywhere since the middle/end of October. The usual temperature is around minus 16 degrees Celcius (but it goes down to about minus 45 degrees Celcius). If you're not dressed for the freezing weather, you will be at least uncomfortable or in danger of freezing in the harsh elements. I used to think that scarves, gloves, hats, etc. were fashion accessories, but now I understand they are practical items for utility and survival.

I wanted to share a movie that I enjoyed very much called "Everything, Everywhere All At Once." It stars the amazing Michelle Yeoh as the lead character. It's a science-fiction movie, where the protagonist is living in a multiverse and she encounters multiple iterations of her

From an actress's point of view, the gets to play a dream role where she gets to be many different versions of the character. In each parallel universe, Michelle Yeoh gets to have many lives from a movie star, chef, martial artist, laundry mat owner, etc.

It's not only an exciting science fiction movie, it's about real-life relationships. It's a love story between mother and husband, and mother and daughter. The daughter is played by a young actress named, Stephanie Hsu who is a real ball of fire and lights up the screen.

I like the family story aspect, as well as confronting the idea of regrets in life and "what if" thinking. The protagonist has an epiphany that she is the happiest in her life than she has been living so far. Michelle Yeoh and Key Huy Quan, who plays her husband are so good, they help you suspend your disbelief. I enjoyed this movie and I highly recommend it to you!
