English Pronunciation & Accent Tips.
Start Speaking English More Clearly Today! I would like to share some tips how I improve my English pronunciation. I understand that to be non-native speaker, it is hard to get rid of our national accent and speak English or other languages naturally.
Here are 5 easy steps that I have been doing as non-native speaker to improve my English Pronunciation:
1. Open and move your mouth when you speak English
How much do you move your mouth when you speak English? Start to pay attention to your mouth and other people's mouth (Native speakers) when speaking.
2. Slow down and Speak Up!
~Pause more, especially between phrases and sentences.
~Emphasize the key words in your message
~Use more gesture. Moving your hands to emphasize words can help you slow down.
If you are used to speaking quietly, you need to speak with a louder voice. Practice reading out loud with a louder voice to get used to how it sounds.
3. Listen more carefully to yourself
Become more aware of your pronunciation! Be aware of how your mouth moves and the sounds you make when you speak! Listen carefully to the sounds you are making.
Recording your speech helps a lot! Learn how to judge your own pronunciation! Compare it to the correct pronunciation.
4. Listen more carefully to others
Watch Youtube, English Speech, Audible dictionary and etc. Pay attention to the way that the pitch of the native speaker's voice goes UP and DOWN/ English is not Flat. Learn how to make the correct "stress" and "rhythms" in English words and sentences.
5. Spend some time on pronunciation! Don't get rush!
There is no Shortcut in everything! Enjoy your learning process. Do not get rush! Time is the most powerful tool to get best results. And Believe in Yourself that you can make it!
