课程介绍
In this lesson, you will learn how to describe people, objects and places more clearly and naturally in Portuguese.
We will practise how to use demonstrative words according to distance:
- este, esta, estes, estas for people or objects close to the speaker;
- esse, essa, esses, essas for things close to the listener;
- aquele, aquela, aqueles, aquelas for people or objects farther away;
- the neutral forms isto, isso and aquilo when the object or idea is not specifically named.
You will also learn how to combine them with important place words:
- aqui — here, close to the speaker;
- aí — there, close to the listener;
- ali — there, at some distance;
- lá — there, farther away.
We will practise sentences such as:
- Este livro aqui é meu.
- Essa bolsa aí é sua?
- Aqueles prédios ali são antigos.
- O que é aquilo lá?
- Minha casa fica perto do metrô.
The lesson also introduces basic adjective agreement. You will learn how adjectives change according to the gender and number of the noun:
- menino novo
- menina nova
- meninos novos
- meninas novas
We will review useful verbs from the previous lessons, including ser, estar, ter, ficar, morar, comer and chamar-se, so that you can create more complete sentences about yourself and other people.
The lesson includes:
- a short reading about a visit to Lisbon;
- comprehension questions;
- guided grammar activities;
- sentence completion;
- description of people, objects and places;
- personalised speaking practice.
In the reading activity, you will follow John’s visit to his friend Maria in Lisbon, including their trip to a castle, a restaurant and their future travel plans.
The activities will be adapted to your pace. You do not need to memorise every form immediately. I will help you understand the differences through examples, visual references and practical conversation.
By the end of the lesson, you will be able to point out and describe people, objects and places, explain where things are and use adjectives with more confidence in Brazilian Portuguese.
