Use Ser, Estar, Ter and Ficar to talk about age, nationality, profession, civil status, family, feelings and location and practise numbers in Portuguese
課程介紹
This is Lesson 3 of the Brazilian Portuguese for Beginners course. In this 50-minute lesson, you will learn how to introduce yourself, get to know other people, and describe personal information using four important Portuguese verbs: ser, estar, ter, and ficar.
We will practise how to:
- talk about age, nationality, profession, and civil status;
- describe family relationships and personal information;
- say where people and objects are;
- express feelings and physical sensations, such as hunger, thirst, cold, sleepiness, and pain;
- talk about physical and personal characteristics;
- ask and answer questions when meeting someone;
- recognise and use numbers in Portuguese.
You will also learn the basic differences between the four verbs:
- Ser for identity, nationality, profession, and more permanent characteristics;
- Estar for location, temporary conditions, feelings, and physical sensations;
- Ter for age, family, possessions, and certain sensations;
- Ficar for the location of places and buildings, as well as changes in a person’s physical or emotional state.
You will practise useful sentences such as:
- Ela é brasileira.
- Ela está em São Paulo.
- Ela tem 30 anos.
- A casa fica perto do metrô.
- Ele fica feliz quando fala português.
The lesson includes images, short texts, guided exercises, reading comprehension, and speaking practice. You will also practise useful questions such as:
- Qual é o seu nome?
- Quantos anos você tem?
- Qual é a sua profissão?
- De onde você é?
- Onde você mora?
- Como você está?
- Onde fica a sua casa?
The activities will be adapted to your pace and level. I will explain the differences between ser, estar, ter, and ficar clearly and help you correct common mistakes in a calm, supportive, and welcoming environment.
By the end of the lesson, you will be able to give basic personal information, ask questions about another person, describe people, and create simple sentences using these essential Brazilian Portuguese verbs.
