Buddhism a Spiritual Practice

The Birth and Early Life of the Buddha- Part 3

Description

Hello I am Lalita, your Cafetalk Tutor. I am thrilled to present to you the third lesson in the series of Buddhism a Spiritual Practice - Part 3. It will be an explanation on the Renunciation of Buddha..What is Renunciation? Its the leaving of wordly pleasures in the pursuit of reality and enlightenment.
What led Siddhartha to this stage? The Prophecy of Asit Muni made at Kapilvastu that Siddhartha is blessed with supernatural powers and he may either leave the Palace or become a Great King FINALLY COMES TRUE.
No matter how hard King Shuddhodhana tries to keep Siddhartha in the Palace surroundings happily, his heart went out to see the reality of the world outside the Palace and his inquisitive mind did not stay still as he kept on questioning these observations.

The above picture is Prince Siddharthas Charioteer who accompanied him taking him to places to explore and see the world outside the Palace.During this time the young Prince comes across a few people like an Old man with a stick walking with a bent back, something he had never seen before.Secondly a scene where a sick man is lying  on the floor, and thirdly a group of people carrying the dead body.

These scenes started bothering him as to why these things happen in life? Are these natural and why so fearful? Questions after questions. The happy Palace life was not sufficient for him. Then follows the story of Renunciation.
So join this session to know what made  Prince Siddhartha an Enlightened one, a Buddha.Once he attains Buddhahood the philosophical attitude and explanation to the realities of life continues as various Suttas called as Pali Prayers. These will be explained in the simplistic ways to know the core values and principles of Buddhism- A way of life.Various meditation practices now come into picture such as Vipassanna,Aanapanasati,Mindful living,Metta Bhavana.
Looking forward for this wonderful transformation of attitude towards the realities, something that was not known before or ignored.
