Kursinhalt
In this lesson, you will learn how to talk about your belongings, describe your relationship to other people and communicate in simple situations around the city.
We will practise Portuguese possessives, including:
- meu, minha, meus, minhas — my;
- seu, sua, seus, suas — your;
- nosso, nossa, nossos, nossas — our;
- dele, dela, deles, delas — his, her and their;
- da gente — our, in informal spoken Portuguese.
You will learn that possessives agree with the object or person being described:
- meu livro
- minha casa
- meus amigos
- minhas chaves
We will also discuss an important difference in spoken Brazilian Portuguese: seu and sua are normally understood as “your”, while Brazilians commonly use dele, dela, deles and delas to avoid confusion when saying “his”, “her” or “their”.
You will practise sentences such as:
- Esta caneta é minha.
- Onde está o seu carro?
- A casa dele fica perto do metrô.
- A família da gente é grande.
- Esses livros são dela.
The lesson will also introduce the verb ir and useful vocabulary for travelling around the city:
- ir de ônibus
- ir de metrô
- ir de carro
- ir de táxi
- ir de trem
- ir de avião
- ir a pé
The material includes dialogues about places in the city, asking for information and questions such as Para onde você vai? and Como você vai para o centro?
We will practise how to:
- say where you are going;
- explain how you travel somewhere;
- ask where a place is;
- ask for basic information in the city;
- talk about your personal belongings;
- identify who an object belongs to;
- review demonstratives such as este, esse and aquele.
You will practise useful expressions such as:
- Para onde você vai?
- Eu vou para o centro.
- Vou de ônibus.
- Onde fica o ponto de ônibus?
- Há um banco nesta rua?
- De quem é esta bolsa?
- É minha.
The lesson includes images, short dialogues, sentence completion, guided questions and personalised speaking practice. The activities will be adapted to your pace, and we will focus on using the language in practical situations instead of memorising isolated rules.
By the end of the lesson, you will be able to talk about your possessions, say who something belongs to, ask for information and explain where you are going and how you will get there.
