Class Topic: Shopping

1. Warm-Up / Icebreaker (5 min)

  • Ask students:

    • Do you like shopping?

    • Where do you usually shop?

    • What do you like to buy?

  • Show pictures of markets, malls, online shopping, etc., and ask: “What do you see?” or “Where is this?”

2. Key Vocabulary (5 min)

Introduce vocabulary related to shopping:

  • Places: supermarket, mall, market, boutique, store, online shop

  • Items: clothes, groceries, shoes, electronics, books

  • Phrases: price, sale, discount, receipt, cashier, try on, return

  • Optional: Use flashcards or images

3. Common Phrases & Expressions (5 min)

Teach useful phrases:

  • “How much is this?”

  • “Can I try this on?”

  • “Do you have this in a different size?”

  • “I’m just looking, thank you.”

  • “Where is the fitting room?”

  • “Can I pay by card?”

Practice pronunciation and intonation. Roleplay short Q&A.

4. Role-Play Activity (5 min)

Set the scene: a clothing store, grocery store, or electronics shop.

  • One student is the shop assistant, the other is the customer.

  • Use props (or printed items) if possible.

  • Rotate roles to practice both sides.

 

  • 5. Wrap-Up & Review 

  • Quick vocabulary quiz .

  • Review: “What did we learn today?”

  • Optional homework: Write about your last shopping trip (3–5 sentences).
