In this class, we will be touching the basics of writing. We will cover grammar, vocabulary, reading, and summarizing what you've read.

Students will be required to keep an electronic journal where they write about their daily lives. The students can choose what they write about, but they must write every day.


During the first lesson, the student will select which book they wish to read. Each week, they will be required to read at least one chapter of the book and write about it in their journal. Once the book is finished, the student will be asked to describe the story, what they liked about it, and what they didn't like about it. As the student reads their chosen book, they will need to highlight any words that they do not understand. We will go over those words at the next lesson. 


Outside of the journal, the student will select a writing assignment and write about it for the next week. There are several writing types that the student can choose from, they are as followed; Story Starters, Personal Narrative, Reflective Writing, Expository, Research, Procedural, Argument Essay, Persuasive, and Poetry.
