課程介紹
In this lesson, we'll explore how animals have been portrayed in art throughout history. We'll start by looking at famous artworks and identifying the animals within them, paying attention to how different artists have captured movement, character, and detail.
Next, we'll look at photos of animals and practice identifying their shapes, colors, and textures — from the soft fur of a mammal to the smooth scales of a reptile or the delicate feathers of a bird. This step will help you train your eye to translate what you observe into watercolor techniques.
Finally, we'll put everything we've learned into practice by painting your favorite animal in watercolor, using the shapes, colors, and textures we identified together.
By the end of the lesson, you'll have a finished watercolor painting of your favorite animal, along with tools to observe and illustrate any animal in the future.
Materials needed: watercolor paper, a set of watercolor paints, two cups of water, a couple of round brushes in different sizes, and a pencil for light sketching. Paper towels or a cloth are helpful for blotting and cleanup.
