課程介紹
In this lesson, we will explore the art of botanical illustration using watercolor. We'll learn how to observe plants closely — their shapes, textures, and colors — and translate them onto paper with soft, natural washes and fine details.
We'll start with a few basic exercises to practice control of water and pigment, which are key for capturing the delicate textures of leaves, petals, and stems. Then, we'll move on to creating your own plant illustration. You can bring a photo of a plant you love, or choose one together during class.
By the end of the lesson, you'll have a finished
botanical watercolor piece, along with techniques you can use to illustrate any plant you like in the future.
Materials needed: watercolor paper, a set of watercolor paints, two cups of water, a couple of round brushes in different sizes, and a pencil for light sketching. Paper towels or a cloth are helpful for blotting and cleanup.
