Take a break from hectic day-to-day lfe and relax with a fiction extract!
In this lesson for intermediate and advanced learners, we'll read an extract from a piece of fiction and talk about the vocabulary, idioms, imagery and literary devices like metaphors, similies and alliteration.
This lesson is perfect for anyone studying English literature, or those who love to relax or challenge themselves by reading fiction in English.
What are the benefits?
Taking multiple lessons will help you grow your understanding of fiction in the English language, whether it's the idiomatic and literary language or the vocabulary used. It will also help you with your own writing, if you choose to write in English. By strengthening your understanding of literary devices and expanding your vocabulary, your enjoyment of English will only skyrocket.
Of course, there's no expectation for you to recreate this kind of writing in this lesson - I really want you to be able to just relax and enjoy the fiction we read. However, if you would like to write something of your own, I have a lesson called "Writing Clinic" where you can get gentle, constructive feedback on any writing you create.
