Join your sentences when you speak about your profession
課程介紹
This lesson helps you speak more fluently in workplace situations. You learn to join your sentences using 'and', 'but', 'so', and 'or' while introducing yourself, your role, experience, and responsibilities. This helps you to make longer, clearer, and more natural sentences in professional conversations.
You will learn to:
1. Make a formal introduction of yourself.
2. Describe your job, responsibilities, skills, and career goals.
3. Use joining words such as 'and', 'but', 'or', and 'so' to connect sentences when speaking instead of short, separate sentences.
4. Speak more fluently with connected ideas.

Hi, my name is Pontso. I am a business language coach. I love my job. My job is challenging. I can work online. I can work from the office. I am working hard. I want a promotion.

Hi, my name is Pontso, and I am a business language coach. I love my job, but it is challenging. I can work from home, or I can work from the office. I want a promotion, so I am working hard.
The lesson flow
1. Warm-up: I ask questions to create a friendly atmosphere, and you answer with full sentences.
2. Introducing the topic: Here, the example profile is presented to students, and they are asked comprehension questions. Guided discovery is used as a teaching method at this stage.
3. Grammar focus: I introduce the joining words 'and', 'but', 'or', and 'so', and I teach how and when to use them.
4. Controlled practice: I show the sentences, and I guide you in choosing the correct joining words.
5. Speaking task: I ask you to make a professional introduction about yourself using the joining words that we studied earlier.
6. Reflection and feedback: I praise you for the effort you made in class; I correct grammar, and I ask questions based on what we studied.
