Lesson 1: Introduction to English Pronunciation
Objectives:
Understand the importance of clear pronunciation in English
Learn the basic sounds and intonation patterns of English
Practice pronunciation through drills and exercises
Activities:
Introduction: Explain the importance of clear pronunciation in English and discuss common pronunciation challenges for foreign speakers.
Sounds of English: Introduce the basic sounds of English, including vowels, consonants, and diphthongs, and practice their pronunciation through repetition and drills.
Intonation Patterns: Teach students the intonation patterns of English, including rising and falling intonation, and practice through dialogue exercises.
Pronunciation Drills: Practice pronunciation through drills and exercises, focusing on common pronunciation mistakes made by Asian speakers, such as distinguishing between the "l" and "r" sounds.
Pronunciation Practice: Have the student read a short passage aloud, and provide feedback and corrections on their pronunciation.
