Buddhism a Spiritual Practice

The Birth and Early Life of the Buddha- Part 2

Description

Hello ,I am Lalita, your Cafetalk tutor. In this session we will be discussing Buddhism a Spiritual Practice- An Early life of Buddha (Part 2).In the last session we have discussed the Birth and the Early life of the Buddha (Part 1). Part 2 is a story of the Siddhartha(as he was called before enlightenment) in the palace surroundings of Kapilvastu where he tried to save a Swan called as (Rajhans) as a young boy who was very compasionate and kind at heart.

In the historical times of ancient India a skilled and talented Prince was supposed to be efficient in Archery.Siddhartha as a young Prince was equally talented in this skill, however what set him apart from other Archers was his way of judgement, his ethical concerns, and kindhearted spirit, which is depicted in this story. Its a common and a child story but THE TEACHINGS from this is deeply engraved as the core practices of BUDDHISM,which was showcased by Prince Siddhartha at such a young age.In the above picture the bird did not want to leave Siddhartha as he not only saved it but also nursed it till it got better.

In the above picture Siddhartha says he is the owner of the swan as he saved it.The Swan is mine.By all means the Saviour is supreme,he argues with the King Shuddhodhana and emerges victorious.
So get ready for this lesson and make sure to keep a diary so you can jot down your points which can be followed in day to day practices of following humbleness, kindness, and compassion. Our English conversation will also enrich the vocabulary and the English speaking skills simultaneously. So lets get on with this exploring journey of a philosophical attitude of Buddhism mingled with English speaking skills.

The above picture is just a presentation of something that I came across as a way of observation in one of the places and it resonated with this story. It shows a compassionate and a kindful attitude towards a living being.
