Lesson Plan: Kid’s Box 3 – Unit: Free Time Activities
General Info:
Age group: 8–10 years old
Level: Elementary (A1)
Lesson length: 25 minutes
Skills focus: Speaking, Listening, Vocabulary, Grammar (Present Simple)
Topic: Talking about free time activities
🎯 Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Name at least 6 free time activities (e.g., play football, swim, read, ride a bike, skate, paint).
Ask and answer "What do you do in your free time?" → "I [activity]."
Use the Present Simple correctly with "I."
📋 Materials:
Kid’s Box 3 Student’s Book and Activity Book
Flashcards or pictures of activities
Whiteboard and markers
Audio player for class(youtube)
Worksheets (optional)
Stickers, point chart for rewards
⏰ Lesson Stages:
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
Quick chat: "What do you do on Saturday/Sunday?"
Write some verbs students mention on the board.
2. Presentation (10 minutes)
Introduce Vocabulary:
Use flashcards or pictures to teach: play football, swim, read, ride a bike, skate, paint.
Model pronunciation → Choral repetition → Individual repetition.
Write structures on the board:
"I play football."
"I read books."
"I ride my bike."
3. Practice (10 minutes)
Youtube Listening: Play the youtube video for Free Time activities. Students listen, point and say/repeat.
Drilling Questions:
T: "What do you do in your free time?"
S: "I swim."
(Drill around the class quickly.)
Memory Game:
Show flashcards, then hide them.
Students remember and say activities.
Mini-dialogues in pairs:
Student A: "What do you do in your free time?"
Student B: "I [activity]."
4. Production (10 minutes)
Survey Activity:
Students get up and ask 3 classmates:
"What do you do in your free time?"
They write the name and the activity in a simple table.
Creative Drawing:
Students draw a picture of themselves doing one favorite free time activity and write a sentence:
"In my free time, I [ride my bike]."
5. Review and Cool-down (5 minutes)
Review activities quickly (show a flashcard and students say it).
Praise students ("Excellent sentences!", "Good questions!").
Optional: play a short Free Time action game (T says an activity → Ss mime it).
