Sixty-minute thoughtful fun.
课程介绍
英語質問クラブは、鋭い問いかけを使って活発な議論を引き出すことを目的としています。これらの質問は、生徒たちに自分の意見を言葉にさせ、英語を話す練習への意欲を高めます。
私はここジョージアで行っている対面授業でもこれらの質問を使用しており、大きな成功を収めてきました。特に良かった授業は、以下のような質問をきっかけに会話を広げたものです。
「AIは将来をどのように形作ると思いますか？」
「SNSは健康的ですか、それとも有害ですか？」
…そのほかにも多くの道徳的・倫理的ジレンマを扱っています。
また私は「偽の二分法」という概念を紹介する機会も設けています。これは、ある人があたかも2つの選択肢しか存在しないかのように会話を誘導する手法のことです。これを学ぶことで、生徒は私が偽の二分法を提示したときにそれを見抜き、自分たちの第三の選択肢を提示できるようになります。
この考え方を教えることで、批判的思考力と流動的知性を強化し、既に持っている英語の知識をより実用的で応用可能なものにしています。
English Question Club is all about using pointed questions to spark lively discussion. These questions lead students to voice their opinions and create an eagerness to practice their spoken English.
I have used these questions with my in-person classes here in Georgia to resounding success. My best classes were the ones where I got a conversation going based on these questions, such as:
- "How do you think AI will shape the future?"
- "Is social media healthy or harmful?"
- ...as well as plenty of moral and ethical dilemmas!
I also take the opportunity to introduce the concept of a "false binary"- where a person manipulates a conversation by presenting two options as though they were the only ones. This teaches students to pinpoint and spot when I introduce a false binary, allowing them to present their own third option!
By teaching them this idea, I reinforce their critical thinking and fluid intelligence, thus making their existing English knowledge more useful and applicable.
