Do you have trouble understanding native speakers during casual conversation? In the real world, native speakers usually talk much faster or maybe they use vocabulary words and idioms that you may not know. Though you probably understand all of your English professors in Cafetalk, it is quite difficult for English learners to speak to normal, native speakers outside of their lessons. But don't be discouraged! Listening is like a muscle; it only gets stronger with lots of exercise!
If you need more listening practice, this is the right class for you. I will start out by reading you a text, like an article or a passage from a book. I will read at a normal speed and with a normal American accent. After I finish reading, I will ask you to make a summary of what I read. I will type your summary while you speak, and afterwards, we will look at your speech together. We will correct any grammar or comprehension mistakes, and I will show you how to make your sentences sound more natural to a native speaker. We will also discuss new vocabulary words in the text.
Great for intermediate students.
