(or as certain very serious people might insist: Esteemed Learners of the English Tongue, but let’s not pretend either of us can keep a straight face with that level of formality),
 

As we reach the end of 2025, I want to send you my warmest wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you—truly—for requesting my lessons this year and for letting me join you on your English journey. Teaching all of you has been one of the great joys of my professional life… which is saying something, considering that Steve Martin insists joy is best experienced while playing the banjo, and John Cleese insists joy is best experienced while hitting someone with a rubber chicken.
 

Meeting many of you in August was, I must confess, a dream come true. I only wish I’d had more time—ideally several extra days, a teleportation device, and perhaps a stunt double—to meet all of you properly. Still, every conversation, every laugh, and every shared moment made this year unforgettable.
