Nice to meet you!

My name is Rik and I come from Chicago in the USA. I am a highly experienced teacher with a diverse background, having learned, and taught, many subjects. By selecting me, you will gain from my personal and professional experience as a business practitioner and educator. My teaching approach is value-add and goal oriented.

My passion is to use what I have learned and convey it to my students. I take pride in helping others obtain their goals, whether they be personal goals or professional. Each class is tailored to the needs of each individual student to reflect this.

Currently, I work and live in Tokyo, helping people who strive to improve their English, business analysis skills, or both.

About me:

I studied economics, finance, and business administration at Lewis University in the Chicagoland area. Upon graduation, I moved to London where I acquired my masters degree in econometrics, from Kingston University London.

I returned to Chicago where I worked in finance at the Chicago Board of Trade, working in futures, FX, and later, cash trades. My desire to travel the world, and my passion for education, began tugging at me, so I decided to leave my job and travel the world. I moved to China, to one of my favorite cities, Shanghai, where I taught English before being promoted to supervisor. I ran eight schools and achieved some of the highest evaluation numbers in the entire company.

From there I moved on to teach economics, history, and English to students seeking to move abroad. I also ran my own company on the side: creating and producing sustainable clothing.

I have also taught business people how to succeed in communication as well as computing. I am an expert in Microsoft Excel and VBA.

My hobbies include: blogging, creating and distributing games and apps, playing piano, running, and travel (34 countries so far).

I hope that this overview gives you a clear picture of who I am and why I am driven to provide high quality lessons. I have many stories and would love to hear yours as well!
