Hi! I’m Chiyomi.
 
I am a certified Japanese teacher with 9 years of experience and over 3,150 online lessons. My goal is to support you so that you can communicate in your own words and style.
 
As a language learner myself, I truly understand that learning a new language can be a challenge. It’s completely okay to make mistakes in my class! I always create a calm, relaxed, and supportive environment just for you.
 
Originally from Kyoto, I have been living in a rural area of Indonesia for 17 years, where I enjoy a peaceful "slow life." Before moving here, I also spent two years in Romania as a JICA volunteer, teaching Japanese at a university in Bucharest. Having lived abroad for nearly 20 years total, I deeply understand how challenging it can be to live as a foreigner, face language barriers, and adapt to different cultures. Because of this, I can truly empathize with your journey and support you with a warm heart.

My hobbies are yoga, organic gardening, and snorkeling. I also love traveling, eating local food, reading books, and enjoying a good cup of coffee.

【My Lesson Style】

I love helping students from A1 to B2 levels speak Japanese in their own unique words. Please don't worry about making mistakes—making mistakes is how we learn! My lessons are always a safe, calm, and relaxed space where you can practice speaking as much as you want.

During our conversation, I will type your mistakes and helpful new expressions into the chat box. After the lesson, I will organize these notes into a Google Doc and share it with you so you can review them easily.


【Why I Teach 1-on-1】

I choose to teach one-on-one because I want to give you my full support so you can speak smoothly in your own words.

I am a language learner just like you. I truly understand the feeling of knowing grammar but still struggling to speak, and the strong desire to express yourself freely.

I have lived abroad for about 20 years total. I know how challenging it can be to live as a foreigner. I have experienced culture shock, loneliness, and language barriers myself. Because of this, I can truly empathize with your journey and support you with a warm heart.

The happiest moment for me as a teacher is when my students smile and tell me, "Another Japanese person told me my Japanese got so much better!"


【About Me & My Interests】

I am a big nature lover. My favorite hobbies are yoga, organic gardening (I grow my own fruits and vegetables), and snorkeling. I also love enjoying a quiet cup of coffee by myself, traveling, cooking, reading, listening to music, and taking early morning walks.

I am really looking forward to chatting with you about travel, hobbies, and many other interesting topics!

  • Camera Policy: You are welcome to take my lessons with your camera off (audio only). If you prefer to keep your camera off, I will also turn my camera off during the lesson.

  • No Recording: Please do not record the lessons. If I notice that a lesson is being recorded without permission, the lesson will be ended immediately, and points cannot be refunded.

  • Adults Only: I do not offer lessons for children.

  • No JLPT: I do not offer JLPT preparation lessons.
