Hi, my name is Lucka!

I am a freelance online Japanese teacher with nearly 15 years of experience, mainly teaching beginner and intermediate learners in both Czech and English. Outside of teaching, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, and spending some of my time helping on a vegetable farm. I hold a master’s degree in Japanese philology and the JLPT N1 certificate. I am also currently expanding into teaching Czech, with a focus on intermediate and upper-intermediate conversation and reading.

In my view, some of the most important goals in language learning are building confidence in conversation, improving reading comprehension, and developing a solid understanding of grammar. If you take my classes, you can expect to speak a lot. But don’t worry-we all make mistakes, and it is much better to make them in class than later in real-life situations. (^-^)

My teaching style: 
I adapt my teaching style to each student’s needs and preferences, with special attention to the areas they find most challenging. In addition to conversation practice, I like to use authentic materials from the target language, such as news articles and books, from an early stage. This helps students become familiar with real language and not rely only on simplified texts.

Personal rules: 
Please note that recording lessons is not allowed. I prefer to have the camera on during the first lesson. For future lessons, the camera can be on or off depending on the student’s preference or the technical situation. Also, I have a cat, and he may occasionally make a surprise appearance on camera. I welcome students of all ages, as long as they are able to use a computer independently.

Some of my lessons may also be taken by two students together, for example a parent and a child. Please contact me in advance if you are interested. (＾＾)ｂ
