Hello and こんにちは everyone!
My name is Andrej but you can call me Andy if you want to. I was born in Ukraine and came to Germany when I was 5 years old. There I did a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering. During my studies I travelled around Europe and Asia and got to meet people from all over the world. This improved my English skills enormously! Now I am doing work and travel in Japan and am also learning Japanese.

Teaching background and motivation

In my student life I started giving lessons in maths and physics to school students. It really made me happy to see them becoming better with my help. Their success was also a success for me!
In Japan I started working in a language café for German and English conversation. My job was to listen to the students and encourage them to speak in the foreign language and keep the conversation going. I really enjoyed this kind of work and that's why I want to continue it in Cafetalk!

Interests and hobbies

I do a lot of sports and love working out at the moment. Earlier I did a lot of running and participated in a half marathon. Besides that travelling is my passion, I like hiking, listening to music and movies.

Cafetalk lessons

I know I am not a qualified teacher, that's why I don't charge you so much for a lesson. But I always enjoyed helping students becoming gradually better at a subject or language. This also motivates myself because I become better at communicating and explaining to you.

- During my conversation lessons I will kindly encourage you to talk about a topic which you like. If you have no idea, we can pick one together which is appropriate to your language skills. Or just free talk!

- I want to let you do most of the talking and encourage or challenge you to tell some stories, talk about hobbies, etc.

If you want to do something different, we can:

  • Read articles or texts together
  • Watch a video together (TED Talks, Interviews, etc.)
  • Role play

If mistakes in pronunciation and/or grammar are being made I will correct them and explain how to express it more naturally.

- If you have questions about specific language topics, I give my best to answer them and we can work it out together!

With this conversation exercises you will become more fluent and self-confident in speaking the foreign language! Just give it a try. I am happy to get to know you!
