Hello!
My name is Ben and I'm from Manchester, England, but I'm currently on a Working Holiday in Japan. I'd love to help you progress your language studies, whether that be supporting you with pronunciation, or practicing daily conversation; please feel free to contact me to discuss your needs!
From 2018-2021, I worked as an ALT in the city of Hachinohe, teaching English to almost 1000 elementary and junior high school students. One of the reasons I love teaching is being able to see students improve and gain more confidence. During my time as an ALT, I also created an English conversation club for adults in my city. It was inspiring to meet so many different people with different reasons for studying English, and I loved being able to learn something from each individual.
Outside of teaching, I love travel and visiting theme parks; in fact, I have visited all 6 Disney resorts in the world. They can be found in California, Florida, Paris, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and (my favourite) Tokyo. I love being able to escape everyday life and enjoy riding attractions and eating good food with friends. In 2023, I backpacked through Southeast Asia solo, visiting 10 countries and eating many calories along the way. I believe travel to be the most rewarding activity you can do, and I fully encourage people to study foreign languages as a way to make travel easier.

Though I'm not a very big film fan, I love to listen to music. I don't particularly have a favourite genre because I like to keep open-minded, but I've been a big fan of Shakira since I was around 14 years old. At that time, I was trying to study Spanish independently, so listening to her music was a great learning tool. I also appreciate the amount of charity work that she does to benefit her local community in her home country, Colombia.

In my lessons, I like to use materials such as songs and films to make a fun and engaging learning atmosphere. I think it's much easier to continue your studies if you genuinely enjoy the material you work with, so rather than focusing on textbooks, I like to use real-world examples of English that you can easily apply to your everyday life.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know me a little better, and hopefully we can meet again in a lesson soon!
