Hi there! I am Trish, a teacher for the past 12 years in both the university and high school levels. I do my best to make lessons easier to understand, and I like to make my lessons fun and interactive.
The topics I love talking about are:
- movies and TV series (from comedies to dramas to thrillers to romance to action to science fiction...almost all kinds!)
- music (my favorites are R&B, pop, soft rock; I also play a little guitar and piano)
- sports (especially basketball and the NBA), celebrities, animals, food, and pop culture! For 4 years, I was a member of the Dragon Boat Team of the University of the Philippines, and I competed internationally in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia.
- animals (I used to have a pet dog and pet cat; my favorite animal is the dolphin, and I even got to touch a pink dolphin--yes, it's naturally pink--in Singapore!)
- adventure and travelling. I have gone to the USA 10 times, the first of which was when I was only 2 years old, because my father used to work for an airline company, so we could travel for free! I've also been to Japan, Indonesia, and Singapore. I love seeing beautiful sights of nature, tasting local delicacies and unique food, and meeting new people!
I also enjoy talking about parenting, philosophy, psychology, and various sciences. I have a 3-year-old son and I also enjoy talking about cartoons (especially Disney) and toys!
I have a degree in Business Administration, major in Marketing, from the University of the Philippines, where I graduated with cum laude honors.
After graduating, I worked in IBM Business Services as an auditor for 4 years, where I communicated regularly with American colleagues. While working in IBM, I also taught part-time in the University of the Philippines, Diliman. For 7 years, I was a college instructor, teaching part-time in various respected universities: University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University-College of St. Benilde. For another 5 years, I was also a high school teacher, teaching English, Management, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics and Spanish.
In addition, I have conducted business seminars and English communication training to business professionals. Also, I have taught English online to students from various countries, such as Russia, Germany, China and Japan.
Moreover, I have taught review classes for college entrance examination preparation in English, Math and Science every year for the last 12 years. When I took my college entrance exams, I had one of the top 50 scores out of a total 68,000 test takers, which allowed me to receive 100% scholarship to the University of the Philippines.
I believe that my teaching and communication skills can help the students understand concepts more easily and enjoy learning. I will do my best to help them achieve their goals!
