BACKGROUND

Hi! My name is Sean and I am 26 years old turning 27 as of January 20th. I have lived in Vancouver since I was 1 years old so I have lived in Vancouver Canada for over 25 years. I graduated from the University of British Columbia (UBC) and am currently preparing for law school exams. I have tutored for over 10 years and have taught elementary students all the way up to university/college students. I majored in Sociology, and have a strong interest for English, History, and Social sciences. I have helped over 30 different students with their admissions into university/college and have helped university/college students improve their overall English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. I am very easy going and flexible, and my lessons are unique.

LESSONS

Most tutors like to focus on grammar and vocabulary, and how to use them to improve your English. I personally believe that grammar and vocabulary improves fastest when a person uses them, during interesting discussions. So, I like to focus my lessons discussing topics that are related to the students' interests! It could be anything from religion, history, social sciences, crime, psychology, greek mythology, sports, anime, movies, asian literature, art, etc. Whatever the topic is, I like to focus my lessons by talking about this topic using English and practicing writing, listening, speaking and reading while using these topics as a base. What I found during my years of teaching, is that students learn best when they are learning about a topic they enjoy or are interested in, and at the same time they improve their English much faster. I also believe that the more knowledge a person has in a variety of topics, the more tools they will have when using English. 

INTERESTS

I am personally a very social and active person. My interests include, martial arts, weight lifting, sports, movies, anime, reading, and travelling. Most of the students I have taught usually end up staying with me for a very long time because they notice their English improving quite quickly, and because they don't feel bored of the lessons I teach as the topics we discuss always change and are based on things that the students generally enjoy learning about. I look forward to meeting you all!
