Greetings and welcome everyone!:)
My name is Courtney. I am a professional English teacher in Taiwan. I also do teaching for non-native speakers Mandarin Chinese.
About Chinese lessons
My Chinese lessons mainly focus on free conversation.
I am a bilingual person. I speak both fluent Chinese and English. I've had a BA degree in English with translation certificate and foreign literature certificate. I've also stayed in China for half year to research the cultural differences. It really fascinated me how people from the same ethnicity group can be really different linguistically and culturally and I spoke this from my personal experience.
Teaching languages is one of my biggest passions. I've determined to be a language instructor ever since I was 14. I feel through teaching others, I help myself and it gives me a sense of fulfillment. I am a patient teacher. You absolutely don't need to be nervous during my class. I am very easy to talk to.
I can't wait to share all of my experiences and knowledge to new people from different countries. I take every of my students very seriously and would do my best to help guide you the best I can. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

About counseling
My counselling lessons mainly focus on healing and correct myth of sexual trauma.
As a Christian person, I feel God has called me and I am extremely blessed to be able to serve in a non-profit organization that helps people (mainly women) who have been through sexual traumas, including sexual harassment, sexual assault and witnessing of sexual scenes that are unpleasant and unwanted. It is something extremely vital, yet greatly neglected in our modern society.
One out of every three women and one out of every five men have had the experiences of being sexually harassed or abused in different forms. Sexual traumas greatly impact us as human beings in a toxic way, eating away our spirits. People who've suffered from sexual traumas would be either depressed, numb or in the worst scenario case, suicidal.
I have picked up Christianity teaching and psychological therapies. I've also clarified facts from myth of victim blaming in the modern society. I've found out the vitality of setting boundaries. Last but not least, I have been spiritually awakened and understand how important it is to help the people around me who are in deep pain, who don't feel like they are understood or loved, who have no one to talk to, about the things that they've been through.
My purpose is to help you get rid of the false stigma and gain back your power. I want you to know: YOU CAN TRUST ME! YOU ARE WORTHY! YOU ARE LOVED BY GOD! You don't have to be a "good girl/boy" to be loved as God loves you like parents love their children. I've decided to take what I've learnt further online.
What you've decided to tell me is 100% confidential. They stay between us. This you can be reassured.
I do have to stress, though: I am not a professional therapist, nor am I psychiatrist. I can not diagnose or make precise medical judgments for which you need to seek someone of medical profession. And just in case if you are feeling suicidal, it is vital that you get professional help or call the suicidal hotline as the help I can offer is limited.
