Hello everyone! How are you today? It's Teacher Asuka.

Today, I'm going to talk about "what's the “Globalization” for?"

I think that “Globalization” might be a good phenomenon as far as the entire world is getting closer and help each other. For example, people in the world get closer with the internet, and social media, despite the geographic point of view.

However, we have a lot of hardships like COVID-19, economic inequality, hunger, global warming, increasing natural disaster and so on recently. When it comes to recent COVID-19, people in Developed Countries are vaccinated against COVID-19 much more than that of Developing Countries.

As for the development or assistance in Developing Countries point of view, most people in Developed Countries tend to think that people in Developing Countries should develop like the way of themselves. You may need to rethink if you think such a way above. I’ll show you a story that makes you think below.

There was a poor village in Africa. A group of NGOs against famine decided to send many canned powdered milks for babies there to assist people in need. Unfortunately, all the babies were dead. Why did that happen? Does anyone know the reason?

Most mothers there were not able to read or write because of not enough education. They couldn't read the explanation how to give the babies for this on the label in the canned powdered milks. Mothers dissolved such powdered milks in dirty water and gave it to their babies. That's why the tragedy happened. This incident had caused many boycotts when buying powdered milks especially in 70’s and 80’s.

Under such situation in Developing World, what kind of aid do you think they need?

In my opinion, first, you should need to think and understand what kind of assistance they need there. Second, illiteracy and mortality rate are so high that they need to whole support from food, water, and shelter to efficient medicine, education, and transportation systems. Therefore, aiding food is not only solution.

Because of facing both such problems above and current “Omicron” as well, we are to corporate and encourage each other rather than fighting to solve these problems. It is not high time you were allowed to scramble over best seats.

Thus, as you know, "if you struggle each other, that's not enough. If you share, it's surplus".

Yes, "sharing", or "generosity" that counts!

Thank you for staying with me as usual.
See you next time.
