What kind of pumpkin recipe do I like?

Weekly Topic: What kind of Pumpkin recipe do you like?

Stephen Brivati

Halloween is incredibly popular in Japan for some reason. I guess it has a number of interesting features that resonate with things that Japanese people enjoy and we can see across the culture in general. I am referring to things like dressing up, ghost stories, novelty goods and items and delicious and original food we can enjoy with our friends.  These things all provide a pleasant distraction from the rather unsettling world we are now living in.  Of course, one of the best things about Halloween is the pumpkins.

At this time of the year a whole slew of interesting new pumpkins based items go on sale in shops and restaurants.  For example, we have pumpkin flavor Kit Kat,  donuts at MrDonuts and pumpkin latte in Starbucks. (I think I am right about the last one. I don’t usually go to Starbucks but I know they have them in America and they are really popular).

To tell the truth, these kind of novelty products do not appeal to me so much.  However, I love pumpkin pie and there are probably thousands of recipes for making absolutely gorgeous versions all over the internet. Although I adore this dessert it is no longer possible for me to eat the traditional version because I do not eat much carbohydrate on the keto diet.  At some point this week I guess I will look for a low-carb recipe for pumpkin pie.  However, I am pretty sure it will not taste anything like as scrumptious as the traditional version it has always been such fun to indulge in every year around this time.

Stay Warm,

Buri
