Making the Most of your 30-minute or 50-minute Conversation Lessons

Suja

In this column, I want to share some tips on how you can maximize your 30-minute or 50-minute conversation lessons with me to boost your speaking skills and enhance overall fluency.

1. Set Clear Goals:

Before each session, take a moment to reflect on your language goals. Whether it's improving pronunciation, expanding vocabulary, or refining conversational skills. Having a clear objective will help you make the most of our time together.

2. Engage in Real Conversations:

Treat our conversation lessons like real-life interactions. Share your thoughts, experiences, and opinions on various topics. Don't be afraid to express yourself, as this will help build confidence and improve your ability to articulate ideas in English. You may want to come prepared to talk about an article you read or share an experience you’ve had at school or with a friend or an event you attended over the weekend.

3. Utilize New Vocabulary:

Each session introduces new words and phrases. Incorporate these into the conversation naturally. This practice reinforces your memory and strengthens your ability to use vocabulary in context. Keeping a personal notebook might help.

4. Practice Active Listening:

Good communication involves not only speaking but also active listening. Pay close attention to the words and expressions used during our conversations. This will enhance your comprehension skills and contribute to more meaningful exchanges. Feel free to interrupt with your questions at any time.

5. Stay Consistent:

Language learning is a journey, not a sprint. Consistency is key to improvement. In line with your goals, schedule regular 30-minute sessions, and complement them with self-study activities to reinforce what you've learned.

Remember, the goal is not just fluency but the confidence to express yourself in English. Embrace each lesson as an opportunity to grow, and you'll find yourself speaking with greater ease and precision over time.

Happy learning!
