フランスでは、伝統的に5月1日にスズランが贈られます。16世紀に、フランスのシャルル9世王は幸運のしるしとしてスズランの花を贈られ、それ以後毎年宮廷の女性たちに贈ることを決めました。時間が経つにつれて、この習慣は広まり、幸福の象徴となりました。

また、スズランは労働者の日とも関連しています。この日は1947年にフランスで5月1日として正式に制定されました。その日にスズランを贈ることは、幸運を呼び寄せ、春を祝う方法となっています。
