After all our living-room prep sessions and bathtub trials, we finally leveled up—Karin went on her very first one-day lake camp at Motosuko. We started with a rowboat, which was fun but a little shaky—definitely not the most stable when you’ve got a curious poodle shifting around to peek over the side!
But once we left the boat behind and slipped into the lake, everything changed. The moment Karin started paddling, you could see it: all those clumsy frog kicks from our early lessons had transformed into smooth, steady strokes. She wasn’t just splashing anymore—she was swimming, confident and determined, like she had been waiting for this moment all along.
And while Mt. Fuji stayed hidden, the setting still felt magical. The lake shimmered beneath the smaller mountains, and when night fell, the moon stretched its light across the water while the stars scattered above us—reminders that in those sparkling skies, we were looking back millions of years through time. It was the perfect backdrop for our little poodle’s big victory: Karin, officially a water dog at last. I am one proud doggy mum !
I hope you all get the chance to enjoy swimming in the lake sometime, it was so much fun and cool in the hot summer !
